Araujo Paz Advogados is a law firm that provides specialized legal services in the areas of mining and mineral exploration, strategic civil litigation, in particular in the Brazilian High Courts. Graduated in Law from the Centro Universitário de Brasília  –  UniCEUB. Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands, in European and Comparative Law (Magister Iuris Communis) in 2002. She also holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Brasília (UnB). Sustainable Construction and Rehabilitation MSc candidate at University of Minho, in Portugal. Qualified lawyer and civil engineer in Brazil and Portugal.

Her professional experience includes several years of practice in prominent Brazilian law firms, providing services to Brazilian and international companies of different sectors of the economy. Her professional experience also includes a secondment at the Brussels branch of Spanish law firm Gomez-Acebo & Pombo.

In addition to her practices in judicial and administrative proceedings in Brazil, she provides advice in investments in Portugal, Golden Visa matters, also in international mobility and Portuguese citizenship. Karla speaks Portuguese and English.

Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee, United Kingdom (Rio Tinto/Chevening Scholar). European and Transglobal Business Law LL.M. candidate at University of Minho, Portugal. Qualified lawyer in Brazil and Portugal.

He works in the areas of commercial law, civil and administrative litigation, as well as regulatory matters related to mining, advising clients in relation to incorporation of companies, acquisition and sale of companies and their assets, legal due diligence of companies and mineral assets, contracts for mineral research, development and operation of projects, acquisition, assignment, and transfer of mining rights. His professional experience includes working in the corporate and litigation areas of renowned law firms, and as an in-house counsel in international companies operating in Brazil.

In addition to his practice in administrative and litigation law in Brazil, he also advises on investments in Portugal, including Golden Visa matters, as well as on international mobility and Portuguese citizenship. José Henrique speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Practices

The firm provides legal assistance in the advisory and litigation, judicial and administrative areas, entailing issues related to contracts, civil and administrative law, with a special focus on the regulation of mining activities, providing its clients with innovative and efficient solutions. Our experience includes issues related to the sectors of mineral exploration and mining, civil construction, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, pension funds, among others.

The firm has also relevant experience in specific strategies for cases in the Brazilian High Courts, especially the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and the Supreme Federal Court (STF). Besides, we also have experience with legal due diligence, providing our clients with relevant legal information for investment and acquisition of assets in Brazil.
